Why should you be an FMA member?

Membership in FMA offers doctoral students several advantages. These include:

  • Travel grants for doctoral students who attend the FMA Annual Meeting. The purpose of the grants is to provide assistance with travel expenses for doctoral candidates who would not otherwise attend the FMA meeting. Up to twenty $500 travel grants will be awarded to eligible applicants. Additionally, the registration fee for the meeting will be waived for all grant recipients.
  • The opportunity to get a head start building relationships with a broad circle of friends and colleagues. Successful people have strong networks of people with whom they share research ideas and information about interesting opportunities. In effect, FMA offers you access to an established and open group of professionals who can help you throughout your career.
  • Resources that you can use – FMA’s journals, searchable on-line archives of past journals, meetings and conferences, streaming web-videos of presentations by leading researchers, and much more await you as a member of FMA.
  • FMA is offering FREE memberships to students in the first three years of their doctoral programs. Specifically, if a student joins during his/her first year, he/she will receive a free three-year membership. A student joining in his/her second year will receive a free two-year membership. A student joining in his/her third year will receive a free one-year membership. (For all other doctoral students and those who desire paper copies of publications, the annual membership fee is only $30 (plus postage outside the US).)
