Careers in Finance (CIF) is designed to provide information on what professionals in finance do, what types of decisions they make, on what types of interrelationships they must deal with, and what skills and abilities they must have to be successful.

CIF contains:

  • Articles written by individuals in the careers you are interested in
  • Job descriptions compiled from questionnaires completed by individuals holding junior, middle, and senior management positions and from formal job descriptions provided by personnel departments of various corporations
  • Articles describing various aspects of continuing education and professional certifications in finance

FMA Honor Society (NHS)

Founded in 1974, the NHS is the only internationally honorary specifically for finance students. Students inducted to the NHS have a unique means of demonstrating their academic excellence to potential employers. This honor helps set you apart from others when pursuing your career.

Over 30,000 students graduate from US universities with BS degrees in finance and over 20,000 graduate with MBAs each year.

BUT, less than 5% are accepted for National Honor Society membership .. a stat that will look great on your resume!

FMA Collegiate Fellows Program

The FMA Collegiate Fellows Program recognizes outstanding FMA chapter members who have made meaningful contributions in service to their chapter and/or college throughout the year. Students must be nominated for this honor by their chapter or faculty advisor.Nominated students must have demonstrated one or more significant achievements during the current academic year. The following are among the various achievements that may qualify a student for the FMA Collegiate Fellows Program:

  • Exemplary Leadership (e.g., through service as an officer, etc.)
  • Exemplary Program Planning and Implementation Activities (e.g., speaker program, field trips, membership recruitment, fund raising, etc.)
  • Exemplary Service (e.g., as a tutor, a mentor, etc.)

EVER WONDERED WHAT YOUR PROFESSORS DO AT CONFERENCES?
FMA's Annual Meeting is one of the largest finance-related conferences in the world! Over 1,500 doctoral students and professors from around the world attend the conference – present research – participate on panels discussions – network and socialize!

Speakers such as Myron Scholes (1997 Noble Prize Winner in Economics), Janet Yellen (Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve System, and Raghuram Rajan (University of Chicago and Chief Economic Advisor to the governement of India) have made special presentations to attendees of recent Annual Meetings.
