2019 Asia/Pacific Conference

FMA International is pleased to announce its 11th Asia/Pacific Conference at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. FMA’s Asia/Pacific Conference brings together academicians and practitioners with interests in financial decision-making and provides a forum for presenting new research and discussing current issues in financial management and related topics. 

Presentations of research papers, panel discussions, tutorials and exhibits will begin Thursday morning and end Friday afternoon. The Doctoral Student Consortium (by application) will be held on Wednesday. On Saturday, there will be an optional tour of the Mekong Delta and My Tho City.

Gordon Phillips
C.V. Starr Foundation Professor; Faculty Director, Center for Private Equity and Venture Capital
Dartmouth College

Dr. Phillips teaches the 2nd year course Venture Capital and Private Equity and specializes in private equity, mergers, and the impact of financial decisions on firms' strategic decisions. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a visiting research professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Doctoral Student Consortium on Wednesday, 10 July 2019

Doctoral Student Consortium, coordinated by Professor Raghavendra Rau of Cambridge University, includes a panel session with distinguished scholars discussing the latest advances in research and offering career advice. The afternoon breakout sessions give participants the opportunity to present job market papers or dissertation proposals and receive feedback from the faculty and panelists. Accepted participants receive complimentary conference registration.

To apply for the Doctoral Student Consortium, students must complete the online application and submit a 5 - 10 page dissertation proposal (in PDF format). In addition, one recommendation letter should either be uploaded to the application form or sent to FMA prior to the application deadline.

There is no fee for the Doctoral Student Consortium application. The application deadline is 22 February 2019.

On Saturday, 13 July following the conference, attendees may partake in an optional tour of Mekong Delta and My Tho City. This tour will include a boat ride on the Mekong River, a glimpse into local trades, lunch at a local restaurant, and a ride on a hand-rowed sampan along canals.
